EXPLORING ST. GEORGE, BERMUDA | TOBACCO BAY BEACH | TRAVEL VLOG

We explored the city of St. George, Bermuda. It is about 45-60 minutes via bus to get there from Hamilton.

The vibe of the city is a little more chill in comparison with Hamilton. It was a great place for people of all ages. The food was really good at Wahoo’s which was recommended to us by our AirBnb host. Then we went to Tobacco Bay beach which was much smaller than Horse Shoe Beach, but was still a great time. After that, we checked out Fort St. Catherines which is this museum that was previously an artillery defense fort overseeing the protection of Bermuda. We were not able to do the tour because it was past 6pm when we finally made it there, but the cost of the tour is $7 for adults and they last about 20 minutes.

What other attractions can visitors explore in St. George, Bermuda’s UNESCO World Heritage site?

Exploring St. George, Bermuda: Tobacco Bay Beach | Travel Vlog

Bermuda is a charming and picturesque tropical paradise with pink sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and colonial charm. While there are numerous stunning beaches in Bermuda, Tobacco Bay Beach in St. George has its own unique features that make it perfect for exploration.

Located on the northeast tip of Bermuda, Tobacco Bay Beach offers a scenic view of the Atlantic Ocean, making it an ideal spot for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing. This beach is famous for its calm waters, ideal for families with young children. It is also an excellent spot for exploring the underwater world, which is filled with coral reefs, colorful fish, and other marine creatures.

Apart from its natural beauty, Tobacco Bay Beach has a rich history. The beach is named after the tobacco leaves that were grown here by the island’s early settlers. Tourists can explore the historical sites, including the gunpowder magazine, a fortress, and several historical buildings around the beach.

Travelers can experience the local flavors of Bermuda, as there are several restaurants and bars near the beach that serve fresh seafood, tropical cocktails, and other local delicacies. One can also enjoy the sunset while sipping a cocktail from the beachside bar.

Exploring Bermuda’s rich cultural heritage is incomplete without a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage town of St. George, the first settlement on the island. St. George is a beautifully-preserved historical town, with colonial-style buildings, numerous museums, and quaint shops. It is a photographer’s paradise with its winding cobblestone streets, historic churches, and charming pastel-colored houses.

Visitors can also visit the unique art galleries and boutiques showcasing local artisans’ crafts and products such as Bermudian cedar or gold and silver jewelry. These shops are usually open from 9 AM to 5 PM from Monday to Saturday, making St. George the ideal place to explore on a leisurely day trip.

Exploring St. George, Bermuda’s Tobacco Bay Beach, and other nearby attractions is an excellent way to enjoy the island’s beauty and history. Whether you are a solo traveler, in a group or with family, there is something for everyone in Bermuda.
